Login and Registration Help

Q: I registered but can't login. Why?
A:
In the past Texas Hiking used a two stage process of registration. After filling out a registration form an email was sent to the address you supplied with a link back to the site. You had to press this link to activate your login account. Sometimes, your email system may flag the registration verification email as spam, so check your spam folder. If you still can't find it just send us a note with you login information (user name and email address) and we'll help you through the last step.

This process was designed to cut down on the number of spambots that try and fill up the site's forum with links to questionable content. It's designed to try and ascertain that it's dealing with a real person and not a program. It has been replaced with a new registration process that avoids the two step process, though your registration may have occurred before this change took place.

Q: I forgot my user name and/or password. What do I do?
A:
The login page includes a textbox at the bottom into which you can type in the email address you used to register on the site. Your user name will be mailed to that address. In addition, it will include a link to another page that can generate a new password for your account in case you've forgotten your old one. This new password is displayed on the screen and also emailed to you.

Q: Will my login account on Austin Explorer, Texas Hiking and other related sites?
A:
Yes. All sites in our network share a common database and your account is valid on all of them.

Q: What's with the social network links on the login page?
A:
Linking your social network logins with your Texas Hiking account can ease your login process and will allow you to share adventures and accomplishments with friends in the future.

Q: I have a question not answered here. What do I do?
A:
Send us a note and ask away. We're here to help.
