Not bad for the location
Armand Bayou Nature Center - 5/5/2006  [View Log Page]
Rating: 2stars Difficulty: halfstar Solitude: 3stars
Distance: 2.00 Miles Duration: N/A
A good park for being in the middle of the Pasadena/Clear Lake area; has three loop trails that cover the different areas of park. I enjoy hiking down to the bayou and sitting on the bench for a while right next to the water. With a three dollar price for each adult you get 5 miles of hiking trails along with the reenactment area it is a good place to get out and away for a day. The only complaint I had was the amount of spiders that where out, it must have been there mating season or something, as the amount of spiders present was overwhelming and actually caused us to turn back on some of the trails.
Little Lake Creek Loop Trail
Lone Star Hiking Trail - Wilderness Section - 4/30/2006  [View Log Page]
Rating: 3stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 4point5stars
Distance: 13.21 Miles Duration: N/A
I have made this 13.21 mile loop hike twice in the past month, parking in Lot 4 (I believe) and heading East on the Lone Star HT. The area between FM 149 and Osborn Road had recently had its under brush burned as had the areas around the North Wilderness trailhead along the Pole Creek Trail. A lot of the downed trees that crossed the trail had been cleared since my hike about a month ago and one of the two other people we saw was a park worker clearing the trail about half way between the LLCL trailhead and the Pole Creek trail junction (the one other person we saw was a jogger). The brush is still very thick in this area and some sections still take a little guess work to find the trail again after a sharp turn or fork but all in all it is still an enjoyable trail to just get away for a few hours.
Scenic Hiking Trails In Memorial Park
Memorial Park - 4/23/2006  [View Log Page]
Rating: 1star Difficulty: 1point5stars Solitude: halfstar
Distance: 8.50 Miles Duration: N/A
The trails in Memorial Park where extremely crowded, we hiked about 8.5 miles around a lot of the trails and had to constantly dodge people on bikes (even thou park rules say that bikers are supposed to yield right of way to pedestrians) and at one point had to wait for about 12 – 16 people on bikes to pass and let us get back on the trail. It got pretty annoying to just get a good rhythm and hear “rider” coming from in front of or behind you… but that is better than the people who don’t say anything and almost run you over. And even thou some trails said “No Bikes” people where still biking the trail. Not the place to go for good hiking but I guess if you are in the city and want to get off the beaten path it would be a nice little walk that shoulders the bayou in some parts.
Nice Hike (LLCL Trail)

I went on this hike with five other people; it was nice but the trail needs a little maintenance done, lots of downed trees across the path and some bamboo growing in the middle of the trail. The last mile or two of the Pole Creek Trail was nothing but ash on both sides of the trail due to underbrush burning that had gone on very recently… in some areas downed trees where still on fire. Other than that it was a good hike and we only saw 5 – 6 other people on the trail.
