South Shore Playground parking area to Burkett Park

Some of the Burned area
Quite a bit of the park was recently subject to a controlled burn. Lots of brush and vegetation has disappeared as a result.

Out    Playground parking area > Tasajillo Flats > Horny Toad > Nature Loop > Lankey Lackey > Suzanne's Trail > Burkett park       3.5 miles

Return Burkett park > Winding Snake > Chaparral > Playground parking area     3.3 miles

Temps in the lid-50's, sunny and windy.

Good hike today along areas that have been recently burned. The smell of burned vegetation was present but not overpowering.  Found trash as usual but that was to be expected after a burn clears the brush.  I saw a blue grey gnatcatcher and a pair of Kestrels as well as the usual birds.  Also saw a couple of white tail deer.

The trails are hard packed and the fire has cleaned a lot of the overgrown brush and vegetation away.  Still some on the trails but they are much easier to hike now.
