Mourning Dove on her Nest
We saw this Mourning Dove just off the Winding Snake trail. She didn't make a sound or move as we watched her.

Out        Playground parking area > Tasajilla Flats > Nature Loop > Lanky Lackey > Roller Coaster > West Potts Creek > Armadillo Ridge (East) > East Potts Creek > Burkett Trail > Burkett Park            7.1 miles

Return   Burkett Park > Winding Snake > Chaparral > Playground parking area    3.3 miles

Temps in the mid 80's, partly cloudy and a steady southerly wind.

Haven't hiked in a week due to weather issues so this hike felt very good.  The trails are still overgrown but park personnel have recently mowed parts of the trails.  With all the rains, they will be working for quite awhile getting all the trails back in shape.

Saw a group of hikers, looked like students from ASU, finishing their hike as we came to Roller Coaster Trail.  Otherwise, no other people were on the trails but we did see lots of birds, lizards and a solitary horned toad.

NOTES
