My favorite hike in the DFW area, yes some parts are level, if you want exercise take Canyon RIdge out and back at a decent pace then come back and tell me how level the terrain is, we always see wildlife. Last year in the snow we watched a Great Horned Owl along the Forked Tail Creek trail, from the Boardwalk we have watched Osprey fishing, lots of deer, get away from the Boardwalk and Nature Center for solitude, in such a small area the eco-diversity is amazing, if you get bored go watch the Priarie Dogs or visit the Nature Center
Easy Hike, Close to Fort Worth

As most have said, the "hikes" are more of walks, but the trails are clearly marked and provide some scenery. I usually arrive first thing in the morning and always see deer. On hikes by the water, I can also usually catch ducks taking off as I come by.
Seems like a great place for kids and I rarely see people on the trails from 8am - noon.

This hike was fun, but it was less of a hike than a pleasurable mosey through the tall grass, visiting the prairie dogs.
This is a great place to easily get out of the city and just take a break, though!
A lot of fun

I notice that others have mentioned there was a lot of trash. We barely saw any, so I'm guessing your voices were heard! For the most part, the hike was pretty easy. The Caprock trail was pretty steep, but the view was great. Saw egrets, blue herons, armadillos, and a deer out on the trails and the boardwalk. The buffalo were out, so we got to see them as well. I'm new to hiking, so saying that this is the best hike I've done yet may not be saying much. Still, we plan to go back to try and do the trails we didn't get to this time.
very nice with family

Saw a copperhead in the water. new trail north of the nature center takes you across the river and into the area south of the Eagle Mountain lake dam. Nice easy trail. Kids enjoyed it. Take a trash bag.
