Both AustinExplorer.com and TexasHiking.com have been down for several days. According to my website provider, there was a massive denial of service attack on the data center that took down most of the sites they host. After some time they were able to get almost everything back up and online, except the one server and IP address used by the machines hosting these two sites, among others.
There's supposed to be a temporary workaround that we're trying in concert with the provider until they are able to permanently resolve the issue and we're waiting on the results of that workaround.
This has been quite frustrating and we're sorry for the inconvenience. Just to be clear, these sites are not going away. This is a temporary setback due to malicious hackers.
We are unhappy with the speed with which the provider is trying to resolve this remaining issue and will look at all possible resolutions, including hosting the sites elsewhere. |

After days of frustration, it looks like both AustinExplorer.com and TexasHiking.com are both back up once more. Note that throughout the process HikingTrailhead.com staid up. It's hosted on a different machine in the data center and was not as badly affected by the DDOS attack. In the future you might keep this in mind in case of an outage one way or the other.
