Nice day hike
McKinney Falls State Park - 9/6/2009  [View Log Page]
Rating: 2stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 2stars
Distance: 3.00 Miles Duration: N/A

This was a nice hike- and paved the entire way.  The map from the park was not very accurate- but we were still able to figure out where we were going.  McKinney Falls is very neat-however- the falls are not there this year- due to the draught?  This was a nice- simple hike.  Very enjoyable

Nice day hike- lots of options
Dana Peak Park - 9/5/2009  [View Log Page]
Rating: 4stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 2stars
Distance: 4.00 Miles Duration: N/A

My husband and I live near this park and hike here occasionally, when we want a nice morning hike.  We have ever had a map of the trails- and we have tried new paths each time we come.  It is a nice, easy hike and there are only a few people.  Most often we would run into other people biking the trails.  On the main trail we did not find much shade, and turned around- as we always take our toddler (in a toddler backpack) and she was getting fussy.  As soon as it cools down we will be going back to hike more of the main trail.   If you cross the street at the trail head there is another trail that meanders along the trail and eventually down to the lake.  We hiked this and then followed the beach back to the parks enterence.  We let the dogs off the leash and it was truly enjoyable.

Beautiful, shady hike
Bastrop State Park - Lost Pines Trail - 4/5/2009  [View Log Page]
Rating: 4stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 4stars
Distance: 7.00 Miles Duration: 4 hours

My husband, daughter, dog, and I hiked this trail.  It is absolutely beautiful.  The trail was shaded by pine trees and the wind blowing through them was wonderful.  The trail was easy to follow.  We rarely ran into other hikers- and only heard the road  when there were motorcylces, and then we only heard them when we were by the trail head.  My husband and I are from Colorado and felt like we were back home when we hiked here.  We would recommend this hike to anyone!

River Trail - 3/22/2009  [View Log Page]
Rating: 3stars Difficulty: 1star Solitude: 2stars
Distance: 1.00 Mile Duration: 1 minute

This was a beautiful, easy hike.  We went as a family on a beautiful Sunday and only saw a few people.   We enjoyed the hike and even stopped to play in the river.  What a wonderful, short, beautiful hike!
