Long Nature hike close to Dallas
Bonham State Park - 1/17/2009  [View Log Page]
Rating: 3stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 3stars
Distance: 8.00 Miles Duration: 3 minutes

Me and my gf went on a Saturday to check out Bonham state park.  The park attendent was amazing and really freindly, and he gave us a trail map.  Once we were on the trails they became pretty confusing, and branched out in many directions with very few markings and signs that werent very acurate.  We eventually found our way back around to the lake, and walked the entire lake loop, where we did spot a Bald Eagle (I do have pics).  Other than that, we saw very little wildlife, but it was winter.  Overall, the hike was great for walking, and next time we might bring the bikes out.  This is a great place to take a family for a weekend camp/hiking trip close to the Dallas area, yet still far enough away from the city to enjoy nature.

Decent hike, lots of bugs
Lake Tawakoni State Park - 10/25/2008  [View Log Page]
Rating: 2stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 3stars
Distance: 5.50 Miles Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Me and some friends camped here at the state park, and camped one day.  Overall the trail was decent, with alot of it near the shoreline, however there were spider webs everywhere that would get in your face as well as nats.  We did however see 2 turtles, and 2 small deer while on the trail.  We hiked the entire trail, and it was a nice hike for some good exercise and to enjoy nature.  This is a hike for a family more than hikers wanting somthing advanced.  Overall this was a good park (camping areas are great), and the hiking is alright for being close to Dallas.  I would go back again, but with insect repelent.
