Comments:

The Woodlands Trail is a lollipop-shaped trail.  Actually, it is a composite of three loop trails of various lengths.  The short loop is ~ 3 miles, the medium loop is ~ 4 miles, and the long loop is ~ 5 miles.  At the northern most point, the long loop runs right behind the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation.

The trail was not very well-maintained when I went.  The grass was ankle high and the vegetation had overgrown in several areas.  In fact, I ran into a European family that was headed back and they told me that the trail was closed.  I thanked them and continued.  I later surmised they came to that conclusion because the trail was so poorly maintained.  On a positive note, there are rest benches along the trail that also serve as trail maps.  Clever dual-use of resources.
