Hike & Bike Trail

Exit/Entrance Point
This is where the trails end/begin at Spring Gully and Cypresswood Drive, near T.C. Jester Road. I am told the trails continue on the north side of Cypresswood Drive, too, but I am not sure of the distance.

Cypresswood Trails are presently a combination of dirt and paved asphalt trails that run along Cypress Creek in NW Houston.  It will one day be part of the ambitious Cypress Creek Greenway project that will run from Spring Creek near the Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center in Humble all the way out to Hwy 290, spanning two precincts (3 & 4) in Harris County.

I parked my car in a small business parking lot off Cypresswood Drive, east of Champion Forest Drive, adjacent to the gully which goes under Cypresswood Drive.  The dirt trail starts there on the bank of the gully and heads south until it reaches Cypress Creek, then west along the creek to Meyer Park, past the Gourley Nature Trail, past Collins Park, and then to Spring Gully near T.C. Jester Road.  I stopped here and turned around, but I've been told the trail continues further on the north side of Cypresswood Drive along Spring Gully.  I'm not sure of the distance of that portion.

The trail is a good hike and offers great views of Cypress Creek, but watch out for mountain bikers as the trail is narrow and there are some blind corners.  When you get to Meyer Park, a paved asphalt trail begins that leads you into the park, but a dirt road branches off of the paved trail and continues along the creek.  When you cross under the bridge at Stuebner Airline Road, a paved trail begins that takes you to the Gourley Nature Trail and out to Collins Park.  After you pass Collins Park, the dirt trail resumes along the bank of Cypress Creek and then branches off into several bike trails of varying difficulty.  They include the Start Me Up, Big Dipper, Bamboo Alley, Sidewinder, Black Diamond, Rim Loop, and Old Jeep trails.  It generally doesn't matter which trail you take since they ultimately join back together down the trail.
