Paul D. Rushing Park is a nice, large park in Katy that serves a couple of purposes.  The front part of the park is for sports and the back part is a wildlife viewing area and exercise path.  The front part of the park also offers a small dog park.

For sporting, there are a lot of girls softball fields and several cricket fields.  I went on a Saturday and all of the fields were in use.

For exercise and leisure, there are several viewing lakes behind the sporting complex.  The exercise path is paved asphalt and goes along, through, and around several chain-of-lakes.  This part of the park offers more solitude and each lake has one or more viewing platforms to watch the wildlife inconspicuously.  There are viewing portals at different heights for adults, teens and young children.  There are no distance markers on the exercise trail and there are several loops you can take.
