Nice Little Park With Lots Of Wildlife

Distance: 2.60 Miles Duration: 57 minutes

Rocky Creek Park is located on Lake Somerville, very close to Yegua Creek Park.  The trail is supposed to be 5.3 miles long, but I only walked about half that distance.  Part of the problem is the trail map they provide you at the park entrance is HORRIBLE!  It is similar to a napkin drawing and is practically useless.  At the trailhead and along the trail there are display maps, EQUALLY USELESS!  Frankly, I have my doubts that there are 5.3 miles of trails in this park.  I admit that I most likely didn't walk all of the trails, but my track file shows I walked the main/long ones that comprise most of the distance.

Anyways, the trail itself is well-maintained and there is an abundance of wildlife in this park.  I saw rabbits, deer, caterpillars, butterflies, millipedes, and a number of birds, all in less than an hour.

I was told I was only allowed to bring my camera and a bottle of water with me on the hike.  They are pretty strict, but the trails also did not have any trash or litter whatsoever.
