Meet the mother of all "tangled mess" trails!

The Greenbelt Trails has approximately 75 miles (yes, you read that correctly) of paved asphalt and concrete trails that run throughout Kingwood, TX.  The city planners did a good job in designing the community as the trails run in between and connect the various subdivisions, giving everyone easy access to the trails.

I stumbled across the Greenbelt Trails by pure accident.  I was trekking through the woods looking for the elusive Creekwood Nature Area when I ran into one of the Greenbelt Trails.  I followed it out of curiosity and was soon sucked into the complex maze of interconnecting trails.  It took me two hours to figure out how to get out of it and make my way back.

The Greenbelt Trails are very designed and scenic.  At each intersection of trails, the destination of each trail is stenciled in paint so you know where it goes.  It seems like virtually every street in Kingwood has an access point to these trails.

There is no printed trail map, but I did link to a map of the trails (click the Alternate Map link).  It would be a good idea to print this map out or take your GPS with you as it is easily to get lost in this huge maze of trails.
